Murali Pisharody, MD

2009 Residency Graduate

Dr. Pisharody is originally from India. He completed his undergraduate degree is in Electrical Engineering. He worked as a computer programmer for several years before going to medical school. He obtained his MD degree from the University of Illinois.

Dr. Pisharody considered the opportunity to work with the leaders in various specialties the greatest asset of a Duke residency. He was excited about the opportunity to be part of the new innovative changes in the family practice residency curriculum. He hopes the changes would better prepare him for the changing practice of Family Medicine. He is married to a family physician and has two children, a daughter who is in high school and a son who is in middle school. He likes to spend his spare time with his family. He loves the Triangle area because of the excellent school system, the top tier universities and the endless fun things to do as a family.

"I was attracted to Duke because of its reputation as a world class institution, where one can get the best training in medicine. At Duke I trained under some of the best specialists in the world. I had the chance to follow my own interests, including a month rotation in a Peruvian hospital for the indigent."
