Nancy Weigle, MD

Nancy Weigle, MD graduated from George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. in 2000. She completed her family medicine residency at Lawrence Family Practice Residency in Lawrence, Massachusetts. Her residency was administered through a community health center where she worked with mainly underserved, Spanish speaking patients. In her final year she served as chief resident. She then served four years as a National Health Service Corps Scholar in a community health center in Burlington, North Carolina.

In 2007 she joined Duke Family Medicine where she has enjoyed the academic environment, diverse patients, and great colleagues. Clinically, Dr. Weigle shares her time between the Family Medicine Center on campus and community clinics in Durham's neediest areas.

Dr. Weigle serves as Associate Clerkship Director for the family medicine clerkship. She also works with medical students as a faculty member in the Practice Course, where they learn interviewing and physical examination skills. She finds working with students to be refreshing and particularly rewarding.

In her free time, she can be found wrangling her two small children. She and her husband have found Durham to be a wonderful place to raise their family, with nearby trails in Duke Forest, beautiful Duke Gardens, a great children's museum and Durham Bulls games.

"While family medicine and primary care in general already attracts like-minded individuals who seek to better the lives of those around them, this program in particular has shown a commitment to serving the community."
