Donna Tuccero, MD

Dr. Tuccero joined the Duke Family Medicine Faculty in January of 2009. She is a 1989 graduate of Wayne State Univeristy School of Medicine in Detroit, MI. She remained in Michigan to complete an internship in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Providence Hospital in Southfield. In 1990 she relocated to sunny North Carolina where she joined the Duke Family Medicine Residency and served a year as Chief Resident.

Dr. Tuccero was in private practice for 12 years. Throughout this time she mentored 1st and 2nd year medical students. In 2005 Dr. Tuccero joined a private non-profit agency in Wake County which provided medical care to patients without insurance. While there she served as Medical Director and developed the training program for Medical Students and Nurse Practitioners, allowing these students to personally witness both the challenges and successes of providing care to those with limited resources.

Dr. Tuccero is excited to be back at Duke Family Medicine at a time when the Residency Program is embracing new pathways that will empower physicians to become the instruments of positive change within their communities on behalf of their patients.

"While family medicine and primary care in general already attracts like-minded individuals who seek to better the lives of those around them, this program in particular has shown a commitment to serving the community."
