Victoria S. Kaprielian, MD, FAAFP
Vice Chair for Education
Dr. Kaprielian is Professor and Vice Chair for Education in the Department of Community and Family Medicine. She also serves as Director of Quality Improvement and CME, as well as Course Director for the Duke medical school Clinical Core program.
Dr. Kaprielian is a 1985 graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles School of Medicine. She moved to Durham to begin her residency at the Duke-Watts Family Medicine residency program that same year. She returned to UCLA to complete a Clinician-Teacher fellowship, and in 1989 joined the faculty of the Duke Department of Community and Family Medicine. Dr. Kaprielian has worked extensively in multiple levels of medical education, serving as Director of Pre-doctoral Education for 10 years, leading faculty development programs for 8 years, and teaching in the Duke Family Medicine Residency since 1991. She has experience in Sports Medicine and Arts Medicine. Her primary educational interest is innovative curriculum design. Dr. Kaprielian is married and has one school-age son, as well as an adult step-son and a granddaughter. She enjoys spending time with her family, exercising, and ethnic cooking. Dr. Kaprielian is also known around the program for her love of chocolate and Star Trek.
