Leal Hsiao, MD
Dr. Hsiao was born in Utah, but grew up and was educated in California. He received a bachelor's in Neurobiology from UC Berkeley, and attended medical school at Stanford. Although he took his medical education very seriously, he was very interested in serving the community. In between classes, he managed to find time to volunteer in local projects aimed at helping the underinsured. Most recently Dr. Hsiao has completed his family medicine residency here at Duke and is now serving as faculty at Duke Family Medicine while he competes a 4th year fellowship which leads to a Master Degree in Clinical Leadership.
"This brings me to one of the strengths of the Duke Family Medicine Residency. While family medicine and primary care in general already attracts like-minded individuals who seek to better the lives of those around them, this program in particular has shown a commitment to serving the community. With the triangle area currently being one of the fastest growing populations in the United States, and with the rich resources and experience that Duke University Medical Center has to offer, I found this to be the perfect location to suit my goals."
